Morse Code

Morse code or CW is the original digital code and is a required skill for all Hams to operate on the HF Amateur Radio bands. It requires a lot of skill to send and receive well. However, computers can decode well-fisted CW and can transmit essentially perfect CW at any speed. CW conversations can take place at high speed between operators who do not know any CW using a TNC, although neither would admit to it !

This clip was recorded on the air using a 350 Hz filter but still shows considerable noise. One op is just finishing and then the other starts up ... The speed is about 20 WPM, just loafing for a skilled operator. Another signal can be heard close by but the CW op will mentally tune it and the noise out.
